Welcome to Seattle Christian High School!
Students and their families choose Seattle Christian High School for the spiritual focus, Christ-centered education and outstanding academics, according to a 2011 school community survey. Our average enrollment of 250 students is served by a full-time faculty of 15 and an average class size of 17. Ninety-eight percent of the faculty is teaching within their field of study, and 64 percent hold advanced degrees. When students graduate from Seattle Christian, they are prepared to become leaders on their college campuses, and in their churches, communities, and workplaces. The spiritual focus and strong academics at Seattle Christian are the foundation for this high level of preparation.
Seattle Christian is committed to fully integrating a Biblical worldview into every high school course. Our highly qualified faculty provides students with engaging, relevant and rigorous instruction in the context of our calling as followers of Christ. Bible classes such as Understanding the Times equip students to be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks for the reason for their hope, as we are instructed in I Peter 3:15. Students also put their faith into action each year through our InterSCession program. Students select week-long service, mission, or study experiences from 20 different opportunities lead by faculty. In addition, students participate in weekly worship and chapel, and have opportunities to get involved in student-led Bible studies, discussion groups and outreach ministries.
100 percent of our 2011 seniors are furthering their education in the fall of 2011. Sixty percent will be headed directly to 4-year colleges and universities, while 40 percent chose to start their college career at community, technical, Bible colleges and other specialty programs. In 2011, the graduating class was offered nearly 5.5 million dollars in scholarships. Our students’ performance on the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) reflects their academic accomplishments. Our students outperform the national and state scores:
Comparison: | Critical Reading | Math | Writing | SAT Total |
SCS 2011 | 543 | 514 | 547 | 1604 |
State 2011 | 523 | 529 | 508 | 1560 |
National 2011 | 497 | 514 | 489 | 1500 |
Students also have opportunities to excel through Advanced Placement (AP) courses, music and fine arts, and athletic programs. In 2011, 90.3 percent of Seattle Christian students taking AP exams passed at least one AP exam. The Washington State average for 2011 was 62.1 percent pass rate, and the global pass rate was 60.2.
