AP Classes

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are rigorous, college-level courses developed by the College Board and offered in high school. Each AP course prepares students for a cumulative exam administered in May.

Students who earn qualifying scores on these exams, typically a 3 or higher, may receive college credit or advanced placement at many colleges and universities. In addition to the potential to save time and tuition in college, AP courses demonstrate a student’s willingness to challenge themselves academically and can strengthen college applications.

SCS offers the following AP courses (based on demand):

  • AP English Language and Composition
  • AP English Literature and Composition
  • AP World History: Modern
  • AP United States History
  • AP 2D Art & Design
  • AP Computer Science A
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Physics 1: Algebra-based
  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP Spanish Language and Culture

Dual Credit

Seattle Christian School has partnered with Colorado Christian University, Northwest Nazarene University, and Northwest University to offer Dual Credit for several high school courses. Students can earn college credit as they successfully complete their Seattle Christian courses.

Northwest Nazarene and Northwest are both accredited universities. Students who complete each course with a grade of C or higher will earn college credit which is transferable to most public and private colleges and universities across the country. Course registration and payment is managed through each university.

In addition to the advantage of graduating from high school with college credit, courses offered through these universities come at a fraction of the cost of regular college tuition:

Dual Enrollment

SCS has partnered with Grand Canyon University, giving our students access to GCU Dual Enrollment classes. Dual Enrollment is an opportunity to take GCU classes online, taught by GCU faculty, within a set timeline – unlike our Dual Credit classes that are taught by SCS faculty during the course of our school year. This partnership will allow students to earn college credit while exploring their passions and areas of interest, tailoring their educational experience during Junior & Senior year.
