A message from Incoming Superintendent Chad McNatt
Dear SCS Community,
God so lovingly and masterfully created the universe and everything in it, providing all that we need to live and worship Him, yet we continually see and experience reminders of our brokenness, our sinfulness, and our desperate need for His grace. In a nation full of opportunities, blessings, and freedoms, the seeds of injustice can take root and erode unity, as we are witnessing in events across the nation. Whether you, your family, or someone you know is experiencing distress, heartache, disappointment, uncertainty, or fear, my prayer is that we find peace and hope in the Lord and come together in humility and love.
As God’s people, we stand against injustice, against racism, against prejudice. We don’t decide what people are like based on their appearance. We claim God’s heart for people, seeing each person as a valuable gift and an image-bearer of God. We are for kindness, mercy, respect, justice, equity, and reconciliation. We embrace one other, considering differences as beautiful opportunities to learn and see the rich diversity of how God made us and His world. We are curious about each other’s story and point of view. We see the good in one another.
As a school community, our heart is that we would offer a glimpse of heaven, a welcoming place for families “from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9). This heavenly perspective is vital in cultivating the soil for fulfilling our mission to equip young people with the hearts and skills to “impact their world for Christ.”
I prayerfully challenge each of us to reflect upon our assumptions, to ask questions, to engage in conversation as learners, and to humbly extend a hand to our brothers and sisters in showing God’s heart in any way that we can. May we offer ourselves to the Lord as we stand for justice and mercy, and may we reflect heaven as we circle around one another and reawaken our commitment to love as Christ loves us.
