Last spring for the first time at SCS, a Cartooning class was offered through Middle School Explorations. Over six weeks during Remote Learning, students created a set of characters in their own illustration style and used these characters to tell a story in comic book format. Secondary Art teacher Kelly Cook shares, “The students worked so hard on these to create this single product and it really paid off! Seeing all the finished work really knocked my socks off! Great work cartooning!”
Art students also created a series of paintings based on a limited color palette and a “northwest” theme.
Students chose to spruce up the blank slate and empty walls of the school bathrooms to hang their art. The day scheduled for installation was the same day Remote Learning began. We look forward to our students seeing their art displays when we return to campus next week!
