Four students are paving the way for their post-secondary careers through the SCS Internship program. On top of their daily schoolwork load, these students are taking on additional responsibilities in order to gain real-world experiences and credit toward high school graduation.

Cory, a senior, is interning with Oak Harbor Freight Lines, Inc.. Using the allotted school hours, Cory shadows employees in every department to get an overview of how a bigger business runs. “Not only do I enjoy Oak Harbor Freight, it also helps me prepare for my future in Business Management.”
Bethany, a junior, interns at her home church, Christ Church in Federal Way. Bethany wears many hats as she serves as an event coordinator for weddings, paints, organizes, and helps with their database. “This opportunity is great because it shows me what it’s like working alongside other professionals gaining skills in a variety of tasks. Regardless if I continue into this field, I’ll have insight on what’s it like to work for a business.”
Seniors Natalya and Lily work with children at Valley View Early Learning Center alongside teachers, learning the ins and outs of the school. After high school, Natalya plans to continue that passion of spending time with kids. “When I’m able to communicate with a child uniquely, my heart really opens up to them and I know this is what I want to do with my future.” While Lily loves working with kids and learning new things, she plans on using this experience in whatever field she decides to enter. “Ultimately, I appreciate this unforgettable experience because I get to work with people of all different cultures, languages, and backgrounds that otherwise I wouldn’t have had.”
These opportunities are optimal for our students to discover their paths in different fields, grow and polish skills and interests, and influence others to use this beneficial opportunity.
